AMD Travel Accessories, Inc. was launched in 2004 by former flight attendant Alisa Driscoll, creator of Pitotubes. Alisa grew up living and sailing in the Caribbean and continued exploring the world through 15 years of discovery in the travel industry. Her experience as a flight attendant fed her passion for travel and put her in direct contact with thousands of business and leisure travelers.

Discovering The Challenge

In her years of travel, Alisa heard one common complaint from all of her globetrotting friends. Whether it's shampoo, lotion, or that pricey perfume, "the top came off and it got all over EVERYTHING!" Men and women on business or leisure travel have all had the experience of personal care products leaking in expensive bags and ruining valuables. It's no way to start, or end, a trip, and Alisa knew there had to be a better way.

Creating The Solution

Alisa's idea was simple...find travel bottles that are airplane proof and capable of withstanding ALL the rigors of travel. After spending a year at cosmetic and personal care packaging tradeshows and countless hours at market research, Alisa realized that the product she was looking for simply didn't exist. And so the lifelong traveler's entrepreneurial journey began. With the help of the industry's finest engineers, Alisa created Pitotubes.

3-1-1 and Beyond

Since the launch of AMD Travel Accessories, Inc., a new challenge has arisen. TSA regulations have created another issue for travelers, the 3-1-1 rule, that limits the volume of liquid carried on to an aircraft to 3 oz. But Alisa had that contingency covered before it ever happened. With vision and foresight, she limited the volume of Pitotubes travel bottles from the start to well under that limit, while still allowing for generous sizes.

So what's the next travel accessories innovation for Alisa? Now THAT, we don't know. But we do know it will be worth watching out for. So be sure to sign up to received periodic announcements and news regarding AMD's Pitotubes travel accessories.

We are often asked how we decided to name our product "Pitotubes."

Henri Pitot; May 3, 1695 December 27, 1771 was a French physicist and hydraulic engineer and the inventor of the 'pitot tube,' which measures flow velocity. A pitot tube measures the speed at which an aircraft travels through the air. And our Pitotubes® Travel Bottles deliver your product with sheer ease.

Merci Beaucoup, Monsieur Henri!
